Don Jazzy’s Journey to Fame

The renowned Nigerian singer and record producer, Michael Collins Ajereh, known as Don Jazzy, was a co-founder of the now-defunct Mo’ Hits Records in 2004, solidifying his position as one of Africa’s most prominent music producers.

Don Jazzy’s musical journey began at the age of 12 when he started playing the drums and later learned to play the bass guitar. His time in London, where he initially worked as a security guard at McDonald’s, allowed him to connect with various musicians and further hone his musical skills.

After receiving mentoring from Emeka Infiniti at O-Town record company, Don Jazzy was inspired to establish his own record label. Utilizing his business management education and industry insights, he partnered with D’Banj in 2004 to create Mo’Hits Records, which quickly became a success.

Don Jazzy’s talent and contributions were recognized through his work with prominent artists such as D’Banj and Wande Coal, despite not seeking the spotlight as a singer himself. His background vocals were featured in songs for artists including D’Banj, Sauce Kid, Dr SID, Ikechukwu, Kween, D’Prince, and Jay-Z.

His career reached new heights in 2011 when he was employed by Kanye West as a producer at Very Good Beatz, collaborating with industry stalwarts like Jay-Z and Kanye West himself.

Following the closure of Mo’ Hits Records in March 2012, Don Jazzy went on to establish his own record label, Mavin Records, affirming his vision for it to become the powerhouse of music in Africa. The label has since signed a roster of talented artists and solidified its position in the industry.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Don Jazzy’s net worth is estimated to be $10 million.
