Doctors from NARD being mobilized for emergency situations

Preparations are underway as the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors has activated its branches across federal and state teaching hospitals, specialist hospitals, and public healthcare facilities in response to the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest commencing today (Thursday).

In a phone interview with NewsNow on Wednesday, Dr. Dele Abdullahi, the President of NARD, confirmed this initiative.

While the association has opted not to participate in the protest, it has made provisions for its members to provide medical assistance to any injured protesters.

Dr. Abdullahi stated, “While we respect the public’s decision to engage in the protest, NARD as a body has not officially endorsed participation.

“However, in anticipation of potential injuries during the protest, our members are on standby to provide medical aid. We have already coordinated emergency response protocols in our facilities to ensure swift treatment for any casualties.”

Several civil society organizations, including the Take It Back Movement, have committed to a 10-day nationwide strike to pressure the government into addressing the country’s deteriorating economic conditions.
