Divorce on the Horizon for Queen Elizabeth’s Nephew, the Earl of Snowden, after 26 Years of Marriage, as Her Majesty’s Eldest Grandson, Peter Phillips, Also Splits from his Wife of 12 Years

After 26 years of marriage, the Earl of Snowden, Queen Elizabeth’s nephew, is set to divorce his wife.

David Armstrong-Jones, the Earl, who is 21st in line to the throne, has reached an amicable agreement with his wife, Serena, the Countess of Snowdon, to end their marriage. The couple has two grown-up children together.

According to a spokesman for the couple quoted by the BBC, “The Earl and Countess of Snowdon have amicably agreed that their marriage has come to an end and that they shall be divorced.”

David Armstrong-Jones, who has a furniture company under his professional name David Linley, is the son of the queen’s sister Princess Margaret, who passed away in 2002, and photographer Lord Snowdon, who passed away in 2017.

This recent development adds to a series of challenging events for the Queen. In the past few months, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan announced their decision to step back as senior members of the royal family. Additionally, the Queen’s second son, Prince Andrew, was compelled to step down from public duties in November 2019 due to his connections to U.S. financier and disgraced paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Lastly, it was disclosed last week that the Queen’s eldest grandson, Peter Phillips, and his wife Autumn are divorcing after 12 years of marriage.
