Dismissal of Two Radio Staff for Misconduct by Bauchi Civil Service Commission

In a recent development, the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission has taken the decision to dismiss two senior staff members from the state-owned Bauchi Radio Corporation. The individuals in question are Hauwa Adamu Kardam and Halima Umar, both serving as Chief Production Assistants at the radio station. Their dismissal stems from alleged serious misconduct that was found to be in violation of Bauchi State Public Service Regulations 0327.

The termination of their employment was officially announced at the 13th plenary session of the civil service commission, which took place on Thursday, April 18, 2024. During this session, the cases of Kardam and Umar were presented by the Central Recruitment Agency of the Commission.

Alongside the dismissal, the suspension of three other officers at the radio station was lifted with immediate effect by the commission. Additionally, three officers from the Programmes and Production departments of the radio station, as well as the head of the corporation, received official warnings for dereliction of duty.

Furthermore, a staff member of the state healthcare development agency had their suspension lifted, but received a formal letter of advice for breaching public service regulations, as approved by the Bauchi Civil Service Commission.

It is worth noting that the dismissal of Kardam and Umar is not an isolated incident, as the civil service commission had previously taken a similar stance by sacking three civil servants for financial misconduct back in August 2023.
