Dismissal and Demotion in Niger State Judiciary Due to Alleged Misconduct

A recent development in the Niger State Judicial Service Commission involved the dismissal of three senior officers and the demotion of one by two grade levels due to alleged misconduct.

Hajiya Hauwa Isah, the Secretary of the commission, released a statement in Mina on Monday detailing the actions taken.

The affected individuals, Mohammed Abubakar, Ahmed Usman, Usman Isah, all from the High Court Division, and Fatima Sambo, who was demoted, faced consequences following allegations of serious misconduct that breached the commission’s regulations.

Moahmmed Abubakar, known as “Galadima Raba Nupe,” was specifically cited for disobeying lawful orders and failing to report for duty from November 2023 onwards without valid reason.

During the 143rd emergency meeting held by the commission, these disciplinary actions were determined in accordance with the regulations.

Ahmed Usman, a senior registrar, faced accusations of gross misconduct and misappropriation of funds totaling over N600,000, as confirmed by an investigation.

Usman Isah, a principal registrar, was found guilty of prolonged absence from his duty station without permission, spanning over six months.

Fatima Sambo, a senior registrar, was implicated in negligent behavior and mismanagement of probate funds, leading to disciplinary measures being enforced to uphold the judiciary’s integrity and public trust.
