Sebastien Desabre, the head coach of the Democratic Republic of Congo, stressed the importance of ending their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a victory.
The Leopards will face South Africa in the battle for third place at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan today. Following their 1-0 defeat to hosts Cote d’Ivoire in the final on Wednesday, the Congolese team is aiming to secure the bronze medal.
Desabre acknowledged the lingering disappointment but expressed determination to go for the bronze medal, saying, “We have to leave on a positive note. We have come a long way, we have shown good things and we do not want a grain of sand to derail the machine.”
He added, “We will give everything to bring this medal home and present it to the Congolese people who are passionate about football.”
