Deputy Governor Claims PDP Candidate is Not Embraced by Edo People

In a recent interview on Channels TV, Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, for the upcoming governorship election in 2024 is not well-received by the people of Edo State.

Shaibu claimed that Ighodalo, endorsed by the current governor Godwin Obaseki, is facing rejection from his own community as he cannot converse in their local dialect.

He confidently stated that Ighodalo would be unsuccessful in the election, emphasizing, “We are prepared in this political arena, and we are ready to challenge Obaseki’s preferred candidate.”

Shaibu also mentioned that Obaseki’s 2020 victory was influenced by sympathy, with the electorate feeling that the governor was being mistreated during that period.
