Denial of Arrest: DJ Switch sets record straight in Lagos

Refuting recent claims, Obianuju Catherine Udeh, famously known as DJ Switch, clarifies that she was not arrested in Lagos.

Earlier reports suggested that DJ Switch had been apprehended and brought before the magistrate court in Eti Osa on allegations of fraud and assault.

In a statement posted on X, DJ Switch declared the reports as entirely false, aiming to besmirch her reputation.

She further indicated her intention to take legal action against those responsible for spreading this misinformation.

“This morning, my peace was disrupted by a flurry of calls and messages. It was perplexing as it wasn’t my birthday today. I discovered the news claiming I was under arrest,” she expressed.

“One of the links shared alleged that I had engaged in altercations with the police. Despite my reservations about some police officers, I do not advocate for or support violence towards them.

“Our media platforms exhibit a voracious appetite for traffic, often neglecting to verify information before sharing it with the public. Such false reporting is not just harmful but also skews the narrative unfavorably.

“Many are eager to believe that I am akin to those I’ve stood against or that I’ve jeopardized my hard-earned reputation to undermine Nigeria. This is unequivocally untrue.

“Consequently, my legal team has compiled evidence of these defamatory articles. These outlets have until the end of the day to retract this falsehood and publish a correction. I am not after sensationalism; I abhor chasing fame and I refuse to be vilified without consequence. I was promptly advised to pursue legal action, which would be costly for all involved. So, I implore them to rectify the situation promptly.”
