On the second day of the hunger protests in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, protesters intensified their calls for an end to bad governance nationwide.

Starting their march from the University of Ibadan, the demonstrators navigated through Agbowo, Orogun, and other key areas like Agbowo Express, Ajibode Junction, and Ojoo.

The protesters, wielding various placards, passionately expressed their concerns about the escalating cost of living in the country.

Abiodun Bamgboye, a prominent figure among the protest organizers, reiterated that their demands remained unchanged.

The demands, as outlined by him, include the cessation of bad governance and the rollback of Premium Motor Spirit prices to previous levels.

“We call for the immediate reversal of all anti-poor policies, particularly the petrol pump price to N197; urgent revitalization of public refineries and elimination of petroleum product imports; instant reversal of the electricity tariff hike decision; alignment of political office holders’ salaries and allowances with those of civil servants; free education at all educational levels as mandated by the constitution; reverting the current fee hike trend in Nigerian public tertiary institutions; and implementation of a constitutionally guaranteed national minimum living wage that adjusts with inflation,” he detailed.
