Delistment: I have put everything behind me – Olofu

The Technical Adviser to the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and former Benue Commissioner of Finance and Economic Planning, Chief David Olofu, has said he has forgotten and forgiven those responsible for his delisting from the honours roll in Benue South.

He was initially listed as one of the prominent Idoma personalities to be honored by the Idoma Area Traditional Council (IATC) at the Och’Idoma palace in Otukpo on Saturday.

He stated this during a press conference on Friday at his residence in Otukpo, Benue State.

The Och’Idoma, Agabaidu Elaigwu Odogbo Obagaji John, had earlier concluded arrangements and notified Olofu as one of the honorees at the Och’Idoma palace, but his name was later removed from the list of awardees, allegedly by the State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia.

Chief Olofu said he bears no grudges against anybody for the unfortunate incident but will continue to render service to his people within his means.

“I was scheduled to be conferred with a chieftaincy title by the revered IATC. When I received notification from the IATC, I commenced arrangements for a successful ceremony.

“Forty-eight hours before the event, I received notification that I had been delisted as one of the honorees.”

Olofu said his friends and associates supported him with funds, and since he has not exhausted them, he will use the remaining money to set up an education fund to assist indigent students in Benue South, with an initial sum of twenty million naira.
