Deadly shooting incident claims 6 lives in Germany

Reports confirm that 6 individuals lost their lives in a mass shooting that took place in Rot am See, a town located in southwestern Germany, on Friday, January 24.

Law enforcement has already apprehended a suspect in connection with the shooting, which occurred around 12:45 p.m. (1145 GMT) close to the town’s train station. According to Rudolf Biehlmaier, a spokesperson for Aalen police, preliminary information indicates that the perpetrator, a German citizen, may have had prior connections to one or multiple victims.

Biehlmaier, who disclosed that some of the victims were from the same family, stated that further details would be provided during a scheduled press conference with prosecutors and local authorities at 4:30 p.m.

The police spokesperson commented,

“As per available information, there were six fatalities and several individuals sustained injuries. Our current working hypothesis is that this was the action of a lone assailant.”
