Cybercrime: NOA to partner EFCC on intelligence sharing

The collaboration between the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is crucial for addressing cybercrimes in Nigeria. The appeal for partnership was made by the NOA during a courtesy visit to the Uyo Zonal Command of the EFCC, as stated by EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, on Sunday.

The NOA emphasized the importance of this collaboration in not only combating crime but also in enhancing the country’s image and fostering national pride. The NOA stressed that all forms of crime, regardless of scale, have a detrimental impact on the nation’s reputation. The NOA and the EFCC both emphasized the necessity of working together to combat crime and ensure the well-being of the nation.

In response, the Uyo Zonal Commander of the EFCC, Assistant Commander Bawa Hamidu, expressed gratitude for the visit, acknowledging the timeliness of the collaboration. He highlighted the importance of public education in fulfilling the prevention mandate of the Commission and stressed the need for intelligence sharing.

The EFCC also sought the NOA’s involvement in their sensitization campaign in schools to address the increasing trend of cybercrimes. Both agencies emphasized the significance of information sharing and public sensitization in combating cybercrimes and preserving the welfare of the nation.
