Customs in Kano Seizes 241 Empty OTRAVIN Nasal Drop Packages

241 empty packages of OTRAVIN nasal drops and 80 pieces of OTRAVIN nasal drops were intercepted by the Nigeria Customs Service, Kano/Jigawa Area Command in collaboration with other security agencies.

The seizure, described as “significant” by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Saidu Nuruddeen, happened when passengers arriving from Cairo via Ethiopian Airlines flight ET941 were apprehended at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport on Monday.

During a joint security check at approximately 01:00hrs, a passenger from the mentioned flight was intercepted. The inspection of the passenger’s belongings revealed the OTRAVIN items.

NAFDAC, part of the security check collaboration, has shown interest in the seized items, especially the nasal drops. The detained items are in the process of being smoothly transferred to NAFDAC, following due procedures,” stated Nuruddeen.

This successful operation highlights the effectiveness of inter-agency cooperation and the dedication of personnel towards fighting smuggling and safeguarding national security, according to Nuruddeen.

Customs Area Controller, Compt. Dauda Ibrahim Chana, commended the leadership and continual support of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and his management team.

OTRAVIN nasal drops are typically used for temporary relief from nasal congestion due to various conditions such as the common cold, sinusitis, and hay fever.
