Crucial meeting convened by Katsina Police Commissioner amid unrest over alleged blasphemy

Responding to the unrest sparked by an alleged blasphemy incident in Sabon Garin Alhaji Yahuza Village, Batagarawa LGA, Katsina State, Police Commissioner Aliyu Abubakar Musa held a crucial meeting on Thursday with state and religious leaders. The aim was to address the situation and promote peace.

During the meeting, Musa urged the leaders to encourage their followers to embrace peace and act as ambassadors of peace at all levels. He also called on the general public to continue to abide by the law and refrain from taking matters into their own hands.

The incident was triggered by a Facebook post by Mani Habu Abubakar, also known as Sadi, leading to a protest in which Abubakar’s residence and vehicle were set on fire. Swift police intervention prevented further escalation.

Musa assured the public that ongoing investigations are underway to apprehend those responsible, reiterating the Katsina State Police Command’s commitment to maintaining peace and order.

He emphasized that enhanced security measures, increased police presence, and community engagement initiatives have been implemented to prevent potential disruptions in the area.

Detectives are actively pursuing various leads to identify and apprehend the culprits behind the act. The Commissioner emphasized the command’s commitment to preserving peace, law, and order while ensuring the safety of the citizens of Katsina State.
