COVID-19: Reopening of 121 Chinese schools and resumption of classes by over 50,000 students in Wuhan (Photos)
A total of 57,800 final-year Chinese students from 121 high and vocational schools in Wuhan, the global virus epicentre, returned to classes on Wednesday. The students adhered to safety protocols, wearing masks and passing thermal scanners due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
At the Hubei Wuchang Experimental High School, students underwent temperature checks and hand disinfection before entering classrooms. They maintained a one-meter distance from their peers.

School’s Party secretary, Ai Jianhong, reported that all students, teachers, and staff had undergone nucleic acid testing. The campus also underwent four rounds of thorough disinfection, including classrooms, dormitories, canteens, and offices.
“If any students develop a fever, cough, or feel uncomfortable, they will be sent to the area immediately for medical examination and epidemiological investigation,” added Ai.
Photos showed senior students at No. 6 High School in Wuhan walking to their classes. Each student was reportedly given a psychological guidance book on trauma alleviation.
Instead of using the canteens, students received boxed meals in their classrooms.
China has reported a decrease in nationwide infections and a month without new cases in Wuhan’s Hubei province in recent months.
