Court dismisses lawsuit seeking to stop Tinubu's inauguration over alleged age falsification and citizenship

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has dismissed a lawsuit filed by three individuals seeking to stop the inauguration of President-elect, Bola Tinubu, and his vice, Kashim Shettima. The lawsuit alleged age falsification and citizenship status in the document submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The lawsuit, filed by Praise Ilemona Isaiah, Pastor Paul Isaac Audu, and Anongu Moses, was ruled as frivolous and an abuse of court process by Justice James Omotosho who presided over the case on Friday, May 26.

Justice Omotosho held that the plaintiffs lacked the standing to file the suit and stated that the court could not exercise jurisdiction to hear it because it relates to a presidential election.

This dismissal comes after the Supreme Court rejected another suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking to void the candidacy of Tinubu and the Vice-president-elect, Kashim Shettima, on the grounds of double nomination.
