Court appearance linked to the murder of 14-year-old Daniel Anjorin

Recently, a man stood trial for the alleged murder of Daniel Anjorin, a 14-year-old victim of a fatal sword attack in London.

Reports from Sky News suggest that the accused, Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo, a Spanish-Brazilian national residing in Newham, east London, is facing multiple charges.

The charges against Monzo encompass two counts of attempted murder, two counts of grievous bodily harm, aggravated burglary, and possession of a bladed article, as announced by the police.

During the incident, which occurred on Tuesday, four individuals, including two Metropolitan Police officers, sustained injuries.

Aged 36, Monzo appeared before Westminster Magistrates’ Court and was subsequently remanded in custody earlier today.

He is expected to remain in custody until his scheduled appearance at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, unless an interim hearing is arranged for Friday.

Daniel Anjorin, a student at Bancroft’s private school in Woodford Green, shared the same educational institution as Grace O’Malley-Kumar, a victim of a previous knife attack in Nottingham.

Described by his family as a “wonderful child,” “well-loved,” and “hard-working,” Daniel’s tragic passing has left a profound void in their lives, with the family expressing their immense grief to Sky News.

They stated, “No one should have to endure what we are going through. It is an absolute tragedy that any family can relate to.”

Following the incident, a fundraising initiative was launched by a close friend of Daniel’s brother, garnering a significant sum of £25,000 as reported by the BBC.

Daniel Anjorin’s untimely demise has reignited conversations about the prevalent issue of knife-related crimes in the UK, particularly in the capital city, London.
