Continued dominance by Egypt and Nigeria at African Games 2023 medals table

Securing their positions at the top of the medals table, Egypt and Nigeria have once again showcased their dominance at the 13th African Games.

Egypt, the North African powerhouse, continues to lead with an impressive tally of 53 gold, 21 silver, and 20 bronze medals.

In second place on the standings, Nigeria has maintained a strong presence with 22 gold, 10 silver, and 16 bronze medals.

With a notable gap between the two countries, the West Africans face a challenging task in trying to surpass Egypt’s lead in the standings.

Notably, Nigeria had also secured the second position in the previous edition of the African Games held in Morocco.

Impressively, the athletes have collectively amassed a total of 127 medals, including 46 gold, 33 silver, and 48 bronze, during the Games.

In addition to Egypt and Nigeria, Algeria, South Africa, and Tunisia are among the top five countries currently featured on the medals table at the Africa Games taking place in Accra, Ghana.
