Contemplating 2027: Bala Mohammed Will Support Jonathan for Presidency

Bala Mohammed, the Governor of Bauchi State, revealed that he is considering a presidential bid but would step back if former President Goodluck Jonathan decides to enter the race.

This announcement came after a Non-Governmental Organization urged him to consider running for the presidency.

Expressing his views, the governor emphasized Jonathan’s experience and capability, stating that he would excel if given the opportunity to lead the nation.

“In response to your encouragement for me to contest, I am still evaluating my potential role as a leader in the opposition.

“I recognize the presence of strong leaders in the PDP, particularly my mentor Goodluck Jonathan.

“I have always maintained that as long as Jonathan remains a contender, I will not vie for leadership unless he chooses otherwise.

“If we manage to convince him to stand for elections, I will extend my full support. He is currently reluctant due to his humility. I hope you can engage with him and inspire him to run.

“Given his experience, he would be more effective. He is well-acquainted with economic challenges, inflation rates, and has previously implemented inclusive policies.

“During Jonathan’s presidency, he addressed critical issues such as the Almajiri system and initiated programs for unemployed youths.

“His leadership style was commendable in terms of fostering inclusivity. We require leaders like him – young individuals with zeal, foresight, and determination,” he remarked.

Mohammed also highlighted that his criticisms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration stem from his obligation to contribute towards steering the nation in the right direction.
