Victor Osimhen is not being selected by Napoli manager Antonio Conte for matches as his future at the Serie A club remains uncertain.
In a surprising move, Conte has left Osimhen out of the squad for their first official game of the season.
The Super Eagles striker will not feature in Napoli’s upcoming Coppa Italia clash against Modena.
Napoli are actively seeking to offload Osimhen this summer after reaching personal terms with Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku.
The Italian club has attempted to arrange a swap deal with Chelsea, but Osimhen has shown reluctance to lower his wages or agree to a loan deal without a mandatory purchase option.
Osimhen’s current contract still includes a release clause of approximately €130 million.
