Condolences to Ganduje as his mother-in-law passes away and burial is held in Kano

Sad news struck the family of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, as his mother-in-law, Hajiya Asiya Gauyama, passed away recently.

Announcing her demise on Monday, Ganduje’s Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, shared the news in a statement from Abuja.

In solidarity with the former Kano governor and his wife, Prof. Hafsatu Ganduje, Olofu revealed that a funeral prayer will be conducted in Kano today before her burial in accordance with Islamic traditions.

The statement conveyed, “With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Hajiya Asiya Muhammad Gauyama, the esteemed mother of Prof. Hafsatu Ganduje, the spouse of APC’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

“Gauyama, a respected matriarch, lived a life defined by her dedicated commitment to family, community, and faith. Her departure is a loss felt deeply, not only by her immediate family but by all who had the privilege of knowing and cherishing her. The funeral prayer will take place today at 2 pm at Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s residence on Miyangu Road, Kano State.

“In this challenging time, we, on behalf of the national chairman and the entire APC community, offer our heartfelt condolences to Prof. Hafsatu and her family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they navigate this period of sorrow and mourning.

“May the Almighty grant Hajiya Asiya Muhammad Gauyama eternal peace and grant solace to her family and dear ones.”

Gauyama’s passing comes shortly after Vice President Kashim Shettima also mourned the loss of his mother-in-law, Maryam Albishir, within the last 24 hours.

The 69-year-old matriarch reportedly passed away in Kano on Sunday evening after battling a prolonged illness.
