Condolences from Alia to the family of the assassinated Benue aid worker

The Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, paid a visit to the family of the late humanitarian worker, Chris Terfa-Ikpu, on Sunday. He demanded the immediate apprehension of those responsible for the killing.

Terfa-Ikpu was tragically murdered on Friday evening by armed individuals who tracked him down to his office complex situated on Nyesom Wike Road in Makurdi.

Accompanied by senior government officials, the governor expressed his deep sadness at the loss and offered condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Kula Tersoo, stated, “The governor acknowledged the important contributions made by the late Terfa-Ikpu to the health and human rights sectors, particularly his advocacy for vulnerable communities in the battle against HIV/AIDS.”

“The governor praised the quick response of the Divisional Police Officer of E Division, Daniel Ezeala, and his team, as the ongoing investigation seeks to reveal more information and apprehend the culprits. He was informed that a suspect was already in custody and cooperating,” added Tersoo.

“The governor additionally instructed all security agencies in the state to track down and arrest the perpetrators and any accomplices involved in this heinous act,” stated Tersoo.

Alia reassured the public that the government was unwavering in its commitment to ensuring swift justice.

Prior to his tragic death, Terfa-Ikpu held the positions of National Chairperson of the National Key Population Health and Rights Network and Executive Director of Concerned Youth for Development Initiative.
