In a recent announcement, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke shared that the construction of the first flyover in Ile-Ife is set to be finished within a time frame of 12 months.

Governor Adeleke declared this timeline during the official commencement of the flyover construction at Lagere Junction, Ile-Ife on Tuesday.

Speaking at the event, graced by the presence of Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Adeleke disclosed that the project’s total cost will amount to N14.9 billion.

He announced, “Our esteemed residents of Ile Ife and the entirety of Osun, we are gathered here for a dual celebration. Today marks the initiation of the flyover bridge at Lagere Junction and the start of 55 kilometers of road construction across the 30 local governments and the area office.”

Furthermore, he revealed, “After meticulous adherence to due processes and procurement regulations, the construction contract for the flyover bridge has been awarded to Messrs. Sammya Nigeria Limited at a total project value of Fourteen Billion, Nine Hundred and Thirty-Eight Million, Seven Hundred and Seventy-One Naira (N14,938,924,771.45). The anticipated completion timeframe is twelve months.”

“Additionally, I am launching the development of local government roads spanning 55.86km, with an allocated budget of N30,677,814,099.42. This project is also expected to be completed within twelve months,” he added.

Adeleke also mentioned that the rehabilitation of 55.86km of local government roads in Ife land has already commenced, with an estimated cost of N30.6 billion.

He highlighted the completed road rehabilitation initiatives within the four local government areas of Ife land under his administration and reassured the commitment to enhance the infrastructure in recognition of Ile-Ife’s significance as the origin of the Yoruba race.

In his address, he encouraged close collaboration between the project contractors and residents of the hosting communities to ensure the success of these endeavors.

In his response, Oba Ogunwusi praised Adeleke’s efforts in upgrading the town’s infrastructural facilities and urged him to address the rehabilitation of other dilapidated roads across the Ife metropolis.

Expressing his gratitude, the monarch stated, “I was delighted when the governor proposed this project. Ile-Ife holds a special place as the origin; despite being from Ede, the governor remembered his roots. I appeal to him to prioritize the rehabilitation of Mayfair Road.”

He further urged the governor not to just initiate the projects but to ensure their completion, especially referencing the overhead bridge unveiled during the event.
