Complaints Submitted to Appeal Committee Regarding Ondo APC Primary

Following the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Ondo State, the Appeal Committee has confirmed the receipt of three petitions from participating aspirants.

During a briefing in Akure, Mohammed Abubakar, the Chairman of the five-member Appeal Committee and former Governor of Bauchi State, revealed that Olugbenga Edema, Jimi Odimayo, and Adewale Akinterinwa lodged the petitions.

The aggrieved aspirants raised concerns about the alleged non-conduct of the primary in their respective wards and irregularities in the process.

Abubakar stated, “We have received three petitions from Olugbenga Edema, Omoba Jimmy Odimayo, and Adewale Akinterinwa after the primary and declaration of the party’s candidate.”

Accompanied by other committee members, Abubakar mentioned that additional petitions from disgruntled aspirants are expected to be submitted by Tuesday afternoon, with the committee’s secretary, Obiocha Israel, available in Akure to receive them.

Emphasizing their commitment to fairness, the Appeal Committee chairman assured that all issues raised in the petitions would be thoroughly reviewed based on facts and evidence presented.

Despite protests by dissenting aspirants over the weekend primary held in all 203 wards of the state, the incumbent Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa emerged victorious and was declared the APC candidate for the November 16 gubernatorial election.
