The Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, has affirmed that his administration is focused on leaving a lasting legacy for future generations rather than seeking personal approval, emphasizing his dedication to serving the people and following the path that aligns with his faith.
These sentiments were expressed by Oborevwori during a meeting with the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Bishop Wale Oke, and his delegation at the Government House in Asaba.
Reflecting on the achievements of his administration in terms of infrastructure development and human capital enhancement throughout the state, Oborevwori remains optimistic about further progress and growth initiatives.
He highlighted, “Our accomplishments thus far, though significant, have not been without challenges, especially in the face of prevailing hardship. Delta State remained peaceful during recent protests as we maintained a posture of prayer.”
Expressing his clear motive, Oborevwori reiterated, “My intention is to leave a positive legacy that will be etched in the history of our state. My focus is on fulfilling my duty to the people and ultimately, to God, rather than seeking validation from mankind.”
Encouraging prayers for lasting peace in Delta State, he emphasized the vital role of peace in fostering development in the region.
In acknowledging the support of the PFN President and the church during his election, Oborevwori stated, “Your prayers and backing have been invaluable. As leaders, we need divine guidance to navigate the responsibilities entrusted to us and make righteous decisions.”
He continued, “Your visit today symbolizes a significant blessing to the Christian community in Delta State. Your intercessions have been pivotal in our journey, especially during challenging times. We seek your continued prayers for security, progress, and the overall well-being of our state and nation.”
In response, Bishop Wale Oke of PFN commended the governor for his leadership and reiterated the importance of prayer in sustaining peace and development in the state.
