Commencement of Residents’ Registration in Kwara State

Initiated by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Kwara State has officially started a residents’ registration exercise. The governor emphasized the importance of creating an accurate database to guide governmental developmental plans and bolster security measures for both lives and properties.

In addition, the database will aid in resource allocation, ensuring citizens’ access to social protection services such as health insurance and government assistance across various demographics.

Governor AbdulRazaq himself underwent the registration process on Monday, overseen by the Acting General Manager of the Kwara State Residents’ Registration Agency, Tajudeen Jimoh, as reported in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Rafiu Ajakaye.

The launch of KWASSRA in December 2021 was described by AbdulRazaq as a vital step towards obtaining accurate information about all residents in the state and effectively planning for their diverse needs.

During the launch, AbdulRazaq stated, “Today marks the formal beginning of the registration exercise, which will collect pertinent data of each Kwara resident.”

He further emphasized, “Having a reliable databank of every individual is essential for planning, resource allocation, and security preparedness. Accurate data simplifies the planning process, facilitates identification of all residents for planning, social protection schemes, governmental services, and security.”

“With the right data, we can strategize for the present and make informed projections for the future. Identifying employment status through reliable data enables us to address developmental challenges more effectively.”

The governor urged everyone to participate in the data collection process, similar to his team, at designated locations and times to contribute to sustainable growth and development.

This registration exercise, as per the statement, incorporates biometrics to establish a unique identity for each resident.
