Claims made by Charly Boy suggest Tinubu is plotting to arrest Peter Obi

Popularly known as Charly Boy, maverick singer Charles Oputa has alleged that the Federal Government led by President Bola Tinubu is considering the arrest of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the last election. This alleged action is attributed to Obi’s continuous criticism towards the administration.

Charly Boy cautioned that any move to arrest or press charges against Obi would be met with unprecedented resistance in the history of Nigeria.

He advised the Federal Government to proceed with caution to avoid inciting turmoil through an “unlawful arrest” of Obi.

In a post on his X handle, Charly Boy stated: “Reports indicate a potential arrest of Peter Obi by Tinubu’s Government due to Obi’s unwavering stand in calling out Tinubu for better governance and accountability.

“Should there be any arrest or legal actions taken against Obi, the response will be unlike anything seen before in Nigeria, and the Obidients are prepared for it. Tinubu’s government should exercise caution to prevent destabilizing the country with an unjust arrest of HE Peter Obi. We urge Tinubu’s government to abandon its malevolent intentions towards Peter Obi, as Nigeria will not remain complacent.”
