CJN’s Salary Increased by Tinubu CJN to earn N64.7m annually as Tinubu increases Judicial officer’s salaries

Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Olukayode Ariwoola, will now receive a monthly basic salary of N1.1 million and regular allowances of N4.3 million as part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s initiative to boost the remuneration of Judiciary officials.

The adjustment in salaries came about following President Tinubu’s submission of an executive bill to the National Assembly, advocating for an increase in the salaries of judicial officers.

Approval for Tinubu’s proposed salary and allowances enhancement for judicial officers was granted by the House of Representatives.

Under the newly approved bill, the CJN is set to earn an annual basic salary of N13.5 million and N51.2 million in regular allowances, amounting to a total of N64.7 million.

An in-depth examination of the revised salary scale also reveals that the President of the Court of Appeal will be earning N62.4 million on an annual basis, while justices of the Supreme Court will receive N61.4 million annually.

Recalling an incident from last October, retired Supreme Court Justice Musa Dattijo Muhammad highlighted the disparity in earnings, noting that the CJN’s monthly salary of N400,000 is significantly lower than the N1.2 million received by the Supreme Court Registrar.
