Chippa United’s CEO confirms discussions with foreign clubs regarding Nwabali transfer

The Chief Executive Officer of Chippa United, Siviwe Mpengesi, has disclosed that the club is in talks regarding the potential transfer of their first-choice goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, to foreign clubs this summer.

Nwabali has been consistently linked with a move away from the South African club following his impressive performances for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

During the competition, Saudi club El-Ettifaq and Sky Bet Championship team Queens Park Rangers were reportedly interested in the goalkeeper.

Additionally, Belgian Pro League side Union St Gilloise and Kaizer Chiefs are said to be eyeing the former Enyimba goalie.

Mpengesi confirmed ongoing discussions with foreign clubs and stated that they will not prevent Nwabali from leaving if they receive a suitable offer.

According to Mpengesi’s interview with iDiski Times, “We are in conversations with several overseas clubs. We believe he deserves a better opportunity, especially after his performance at the AFCON.”

“He was the runner-up goalkeeper at the AFCON, so if a good opportunity arises overseas or even locally with a better offer for him, we will not stand in his way.”

So far this season, Nwabali has maintained nine clean sheets for Chippa United.
