Chelsea Chairman Todd Boehly to Step Down in 2027

In a report by Mail Sport, it has been revealed that Todd Boehly is set to be removed as the chairman of Chelsea in 2027.

This decision forms part of a unique arrangement made between the club’s American co-owners.

According to the agreement, the chairmanship can be exchanged among the owners every five years.

It is anticipated that this change will take place at the conclusion of the 2026/2027 season.

Despite holding a minority stake in the club, Boehly is expected to be the first to step down as per the terms of the takeover.

With Clearlake Capital, a private equity firm managed by Behdad Eghbali and Jose Feliciano, owning a 61.5% share in the club’s holding company, Boehly holds an equal split of the remaining 38.5% with Hansjorg Wyss and Mark Walter.

The decision for Boehly to be the first chairman was likely tied to the conditions outlined in the 2022 sale agreement, which stipulate that Boehly’s group would bear any initial losses in case of a sale or liquidation.
