Chapter Congress Conducted by PDP in Akwa Ibom on Saturday

On Saturday, August 10, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Akwa Ibom State Chapter made public its intention to hold chapter congresses across the 31 local government areas of the state. The purpose is to elect members of the Chapter Executive Committee.

In a statement released on Friday by the party’s state publicity secretary, Borono Bassey, it was mentioned that the exercise is following the constitutional provisions of the PDP, along with the guidelines and timetable issued by the National Headquarters of the Party.

Aspiring members who have been screened and approved to contest for positions in the Chapter Executive Committees in their respective Local Government Areas are encouraged to present themselves for election at the Party’s Chapter offices throughout the State starting at 10:00 am.

The Electoral College for the Congress will consist solely of the 3 Ad-hoc delegates recently elected during the Ward Congresses, as clarified by Bassey.

The statement reads, “Our party, the Akwa Ibom State Chapter, hereby notifies its members about the upcoming Congress scheduled to elect Chapter Executive Committee Members on Saturday, August 10, 2024.

“The Chapter Congress will be held in all 31 Local Government Areas in Akwa Ibom State.

“Please be informed that only the 3 Ad-hoc Delegates chosen at the Ward Congresses will form the Electoral College for this Congress.

“Our party’s State Executive Committee urges stakeholders and members to conduct themselves peacefully and fairly throughout the exercise to ensure credibility.”
