At Ladoke Akintola University Of Technology, LAUTECH, located in the Ogbomoso region of Oyo State, a tense situation unfolded on Monday when a police officer reportedly shot a student and injured two others.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred during an attempt by the unidentified officer to intervene in a dispute between two individuals on the school premises.
As the officer sought to resolve the conflict, he allegedly fired shots into the air, resulting in the death of one student and injuries to two others.
The shooting incident sparked unrest among the students, leading to a protest where the school gates were barricaded as demands for justice for the deceased student were voiced.
Upon reaching out for comments, SP Adewale Osifeso, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, stated that he was currently occupied but assured that he would respond later.
