In the wake of Nicolas Maduro’s disputed re-election, Venezuelan opposition figures Edmundo Urrutia and Maria Machado have urged military and police personnel to align with the people.
They issued a statement appealing to the conscience of soldiers and police officers, asking them to stand by the population and their own families. They also provided assurances for those who uphold their constitutional obligations in a potential new government.
