The burial date of the late Nollywood actor, John Okafor, has been revealed by his family.
Mr Ibu underwent leg amputation prior to his passing, following a period of battling an undisclosed illness a few months back.
The actor’s family has disclosed that his final resting place will be in his hometown of Amuri, located in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.
In a statement co-signed by Ibu’s brother, Elder Sunday Okafor, it was mentioned that the deceased will receive a hero’s burial.
“The Okafor family in Eziokwe Amuri, Nkanu West LGA in Enugu State, is looking to pay homage in memory of our beloved hero and legend, John Ikechukwu Okafor, who even in his passing has left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and vibrancy.”
“We would be honored by your presence as we lay to rest our son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and in-law on the 28th of June 2024.”
“We invite you to commemorate and cherish the finest moments with our icon,” the statement expressed.
According to the statement, the burial proceedings will commence on Tuesday, June 25th, with a notable novelty match, followed by an event named Mr Ibu’s Night on Wednesday, June 26, featuring a candlelight procession and live entertainment.
On June 27, a Christian Wake will be held at his residence in Eziokwe Amuri, Nkanu West, while the funeral service is scheduled for June 28.
The 5-day burial ceremony will conclude on Sunday, June 30, with a Church Thanksgiving celebration for family, friends, and well-wishers.
