The couple, now known as Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, will cease royal duties in the spring. This announcement concludes talks about their future after negotiations with family members and royal aides.

This move allows Harry and Meghan to pursue an independent life in North America, setting their own agenda and generating income as they choose. However, they have committed to upholding the Queen’s values.

Prince Harry, currently in the UK, has had to delay his return to Canada where Meghan is looking for a new house. He will continue talks on Monday after negotiations over his future this week yielded no positive results.

The Duke and Duchess’ website sussexroyal.com has been updated in line with the Queen’s statement, indicating that information on their roles and work will be updated in due course.

This change means that while Harry will give up his military patronages and his role as Commonwealth Youth Ambassador, he will remain a prince and sixth in line to the throne.

The couple will no longer use the titles His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness, but they will retain them.
