Brighton player tests positive for coronavirus

Following tests, Brighton & Hove Albion have confirmed that a member of their squad has contracted coronavirus, without disclosing the player’s identity.

Paul Barber, the club’s chief executive, announced that three players from Albion’s squad were tested after exhibiting Covid-19 symptoms, with one receiving a positive result.

During a virtual press conference on Thursday, Barber stated, “We’ve had three players tested, one has tested positive. We’re not testing them routinely, we’re only testing them when symptoms emerge.”

He added, “But the one that tested positive was just today, so that’s unfortunate but he’s OK and he’s obviously getting the care that he needs at the moment.”
