Confirmation from Manchester City’s manager, Pep Guardiola, reveals that Julian Alvarez is set to depart from the club.
A deal worth £81 million has been reached between the Premier League champions and Atletico Madrid for Alvarez’s transfer.
Speaking to the media prior to the Community Shield, Guardiola acknowledged the player’s desire to leave this summer.
“His intention is to move on and Atlético is a top-tier club, so the decision is respected,” Guardiola stated.
Wishing Alvarez well, Guardiola expressed his sentiments by saying, “We hold him in high regard and remember our successes together.”
Concluding his statement, Guardiola added, “I sincerely hope he achieves great things in his future endeavors.”
With Alvarez’s impending departure, City will rely on Erling Haaland as their primary striker in Guardiola’s squad.
