Breaking News: Explosive Device Deactivated by Police in Lagos Ahead of Nationwide Protest

Prior to the start of the planned anti-government protest, the Lagos State Police Command reported that their anti-bomb squad successfully deactivated an improvised explosive device in the Ikeja area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this development to NewsNow without providing further details at the time of reporting.

Nigerian youths, frustrated by the current economic challenges in the country, had organized a 10-day nationwide protest scheduled to begin on August 1. Despite security alerts from law enforcement, the protesters were adamant about moving forward with their plans.

When asked about the deactivation of the explosive device, Hundeyin simply stated, “Yes, it happened today.”
