Breaking News: Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro’s Son Denies Father’s Coronavirus Diagnosis, Confirms Negative Test Results

Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro’s son, Eduardo Bolsonaro, has confirmed that his father tested negative for the coronavirus.

On Friday, Eduardo Bolsonaro, a congressman, in an interview with Fox News, refuted the report by O Dia, a top Rio de Janeiro newspaper, claiming that the president had tested positive for coronavirus.

“The test is negative,” Eduardo stated in the Fox News interview.

He also took to Twitter to announce that both he and his father tested negative for coronavirus.

‘I never told anyone (even the press) that President @jairbolsonaro’s tested positive, ever. Also because this information never came to me. The only information I have is that PR @jairbolsonaro, Min. @Gen_heleno and I tested NEGATIVE for COVID-19.’

On Thursday, President Bolsonaro’s press secretary, Fabio Wajngarten, tested positive for the virus after their US trip for a meeting with President Donald Trump, who later hosted a dinner for them at Mar-a-Lago in Florida on Saturday.

Although President Trump stated, “I’m not concerned” about the exposure, White House press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, has downplayed his level of interaction with the diagnosed individual.

She emphasized in a Thursday statement: “Both the president and vice president had almost no interactions with the individual who tested positive and do not require being tested at this time.”
