Breaking News: Atlanta Shooting Suspect Deion Patterson Faces Murder and Assault Charges

Atlanta shooting suspect Deion Patterson charged with murder and four counts of aggravated assault

The individual responsible for the shooting at an Atlanta medical facility now faces charges of murder and four counts of aggravated assault.

Deion Duwane Patterson, aged 24, allegedly shot five women and evaded police during an eight-hour-long manhunt on Wednesday, according to officials on Thursday, May 4.

He waived his right to appear in court as scheduled on Thursday and no next court date has been set yet.

According to Atlanta Police Officer Scott Demeester’s affidavit, Amy St. Pierre, 39, an employee of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, was killed with a semi-automatic handgun.

In response to the tragic event, the CDC released a statement on Twitter expressing their deep sadness and condolences for the loss of their colleague.

Court documents identified the four wounded women as Lisa Glynn, Georgette Whitlow, Jazzmin Daniel, and Alesha Hollinger, aged 25 to 71.

The affidavit stated that Glynn and Daniel were shot in the abdomen, Whitlow in the arm, and Hollinger in the face, with the shooting occurring between 11:59 a.m. and 12:08 p.m. at 1110 W. Peachtree St.

Three of the wounded women remained in intensive care at Grady Memorial Hospital, with two of them scheduled to return to the operating room on Thursday, as confirmed by Dr. Robert Jansen, the facility’s chief medical officer.

Jazzmin Daniel, 25, who had been working at the Northside Hospital facility for six months, is in critical condition but doctors are optimistic about her recovery from gunshot wounds to her chest and pelvis, according to her father, Quentin Daniel.

Quentin Daniel shared that Jazzmin, a new mom, is a cheerful person who loves her family, and her absence has affected her 1-year-old child.
