Boxing legend, Roberto Duran hospitalized after contracting Coronavirus

Roberto Duran, a legendary figure in boxing, has been admitted to the hospital after contracting the Coronavirus. Duran’s son, Robin, reported that his father was taken to the hospital due to experiencing symptoms similar to a cold, attributed to a previous lung injury sustained in an accident. Furthermore, Robin confirmed his father’s positive COVID-19 diagnosis and reassured the public that although Duran has only exhibited mild cold symptoms, he is currently not in intensive care or on a ventilator, and his lungs are showing no signs of serious complications.

In a post on Instagram, Robin shared the medical update and expressed hope for a positive outcome while keeping the public informed. Roberto Duran, known for his notable “Hands of Stone” and his victory over Sugar Ray Leonard in June 1980, which secured him the WBC Welterweight title, retired from professional boxing in 2001 with a record of 103-16. His illustrious career led to his induction into the World Boxing Hall of Fame in 2006 and the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2007.
