Bola Tinubu has given approval for the commencement of Sokoto-Badagry Coastal Highway construction – Dave Umahi

During the inspection of the completion of Section One, Phase One of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and its realignment in Lagos on Sunday, Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, revealed that President Bola Tinubu has authorized the initiation of the 1000-kilometer Sokoto-Badagry Coastal Highway development.

Once finalized, the coastal road will link the South-West, South-South, North-East, North-West, and North-Central zones of Nigeria.

Umahi expressed, “I am pleased that the President has instructed me to immediately begin the planning of the Sokoto-Badagry Coastal Highway.”

“This will be a branch of the Coastal highway, extending 1000 kilometers.”

“The design work has already commenced, and with the approval of the Federal Executive Council, the construction will kick off from the starting point at Sokoto.”

“Another branch we have planned will run from Enugu through Abakaliki and Ogoja, connecting to Cameroon.”

“This extension spans about 361 kilometers, passing through Otukpo, Benue, Nasarawa, and concluding at Apo in Abuja.”

“We are also set to present this to the President, and upon completion, the promised coastal routes will extensively cover the entire country.”
