The President lauded Obazee for his dedication and professionalism exhibited in managing the intricacies of this vital national task.

He extended his gratitude to the CBN’s investigator for responding dutifully to the call of duty and wished him success in his upcoming endeavors.

On July 30, 2023, the President had assigned Obazee as a special investigator to scrutinize the operations of the apex bank and its affiliated entities.

Stemming from a letter issued on July 28, 2023, Tinubu anchored Obazee’s appointment on the core principle delineated in Section 15(5) of the Nigerian constitution, citing its alignment with his administration’s anti-corruption campaign.

The investigation promptly commenced.

During the eight-month investigative period, Obazee was tasked with taking swift measures to enhance the integrity and transparency of key Government Business Entities while sealing off loopholes within the CBN and its associated GBEs.

Tinubu further charged him with furnishing a thorough report on the public assets currently under the control of corrupt individuals and entities, whether in private or public spheres.

Obazee was also mandated to explore the operations of the CBN and its related entities with a proficient and capable team, collaborating with pertinent security and anti-corruption agencies to fulfill the assignment.
