Bola Tinubu Emphasizes the Significance of Sacrifice in Lagos

Encouraging Nigerians to display more concern for their neighbors and demonstrate generosity to all during Eid-el-Kabir, President Bola Tinubu highlighted the necessity of sacrifice for national advancement.

Addressing journalists following the Eid-el-Kabir prayers in Lagos on Sunday, the President emphasized the importance of dedicating time for the progress and welfare of the country.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, after the Eid prayers, Tinubu urged Nigerians to prioritize sacrificing their time for the betterment of the nation.

“The Chief Imam has imparted in us the essence of sacrifice – the sacrifice expected from a responsible citizen,” noted the President. He further expressed, “Citizenship carries obligations. How can we fulfill our duty as committed members of society? It’s through sacrifice: loving our nation, caring for our neighbors, sharing what we have with each other, and perpetually expressing gratitude to the Almighty,” reflected Tinubu.

During his sermon, Lagos State’s Chief Imam, Sheikh Suleiman Oluwatoyin, leading the prayers, reiterated the imperative of increased love, sacrifice, and attention towards the underprivileged.

“Leaders such as Ahmadu Bello, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, Funmilayo Ransome Kuti, among others, dedicated their expertise, wealth, hard work, and even lives towards the growth and progress of our nation. Their endeavors were all aimed at nation-building.

“Hence, it is our responsibility to ensure their sacrifices do not go to waste. We must strive to emulate their actions to guarantee that Nigeria continues to advance significantly,” he emphasized.

Calling on citizens to pray for Almighty God to grant the President strength and wisdom to fulfill his vision for a better and prosperous nation, Lagos’ Chief Imam urged the populace to follow in the footsteps of past leaders in securing the nation’s growth and development.
