Boko Haram members clashed with the Nigerian Army in Damboa, a local government headquarters in Borno state today.
According to reports, the insurgents entered the village around 6:30 am on Wednesday, March 4th, firing guns indiscriminately.
“They came in numerous Hilux trucks. We saw about 20 before we started fleeing into the bush. They arrived in two groups, one from the north Sambisa and the other from Alagaruno. Soldiers from the 25 task force arrived about 30 minutes later and have been exchanging gunfire with the insurgents for over an hour,” said a resident.
A military source revealed that the suspected Boko Haram members arrived in trucks equipped with machine guns.
“We lost four mobile policemen and two civilian militia members who were fighting alongside soldiers during the battle with the terrorists,” said a military officer who spoke to AFP on the condition of anonymity.
The Nigerian Army is yet to confirm this incident.
