Boko Haram Attacks Lead to Two Deaths and Injuries in Yobe, Displacing Hundreds


Reports indicate that armed gunmen believed to be affiliated with Boko Haram recently launched attacks on four communities in Yobe State’s Tarmuwa local government area.

The violent invasion resulted in the displacement of 475 households, with two fatalities and five individuals sustaining injuries, as revealed by Dr. Mohammed Goje, the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOSEMA).

Dr. Goje shared, “This tragic incident has led to the loss of two lives, injuries to five individuals, and the displacement of 475 households, affecting a total of 2,390 people across four communities within Mafa Ward.”

He identified the impacted communities as Mafa, Bangaro, Ngoyo, and Billiri, further stating that the displaced residents sought refuge in Baban-Gida, which serves as the Tarmuwa LGA headquarters.

Dr. Goje explained that Yobe SEMA, in partnership with various organizations, was swiftly evaluating the urgent requirements of the displaced individuals to provide immediate assistance.

He emphasized, “Our initial efforts will focus on supplying essential food items and non-food necessities like mattresses, blankets, mosquito nets, mats, buckets, and dignity kits to ensure the well-being and respect of those affected.”

Expressing sympathy for the affected communities, Dr. Goje reassured them of a prompt and thorough response to address their needs during this challenging period.
