Bode George on PDP Crisis: How to Address the Wike and Atiku Disagreement

Former National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Southwest, Bode George, has given insights on resolving the rift between the party’s potential 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

In an appearance on Arise Television, George highlighted that there was a trigger for the disagreement between Wike and Atiku.

He emphasized that Wike’s actions should not be misconstrued as working against the party, affirming his status as a genuine PDP member.

Addressing concerns about Wike’s role in the PDP, George suggested the need for a thorough assessment of the situation to understand the root cause of the division.

George defended Wike’s participation in the APC-led government by referencing past instances where elected officials have formed coalitions across party lines for a unified goal.

He pointed out historical examples, such as Chief Bola Ige’s service as Attorney-General of the Federation under President Obasanjo despite his affiliation with the Alliance for Democracy.

In discussing Wike’s involvement in the APC administration, George emphasized that serving in another party’s government does not equate to abandoning one’s original party.

George reiterated Wike’s commitment to the PDP, highlighting his continued involvement and loyalty while dispelling notions of betrayal.

Regarding recent discord within the party, George emphasized the importance of unity and urged members to address internal conflicts internally instead of airing grievances publicly.

He stressed the significance of discipline within the organization and encouraged party members to contribute positively from their respective positions.
