'Bishop Ignatius Kaigama’s Perspective on the Coronavirus Pandemic: “God is in Control and All Nations are Equal”

Bishop Ignatius Kaigama, from Abuja Catholic Diocese, shared his thoughts on the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic, stating that the disease has brought humanity to a common level.

Kaigama highlighted that all nations, regardless of their size or power, are in need of assistance as the virus continues to spread rapidly worldwide.

“The disease has equalized us. Both powerful and smaller nations find themselves on the same footing, experiencing the effects and struggling to cope,” Kaigama expressed after conducting a Palm Sunday Mass in an empty church, following government directives to prohibit public gatherings.

He added, “The pandemic has emphasized the importance of collective effort in overcoming societal challenges.”

“All nations, irrespective of their development status or wealth, have realized the limitations of technology. Everyone is scrambling for safety and security,” he remarked.

“Undoubtedly, this marks a new chapter for humanity. It necessitates a return to the fundamental principles of love and mutual respect. Most importantly, it reaffirms that God is ultimately in control, and we must reorient ourselves towards Him,” he asserted.

“Our focus should not revolve around personal gains from the situation, but rather on the contributions we can make to the betterment of the system,” he emphasized.
