Former DSS Director reveals reasons behind Anjarwalla’s escape and questions NSA’s role in the matter

Blaming negligence and compromise, Mike Ejiofor, a former Director of the Department of State Services, has shed light on the escape of Binance executive, Nadeem Anjarwalla, from custody.

The Federal Government has been investigating alleged money laundering and terrorism financing transactions on the Binance platform, prompting Anjarwalla, Binance’s Africa regional manager holding British and Kenyan nationalities, to face trial in Nigeria.

Under a 14-day remand order issued by a court, Anjarwalla managed to escape, leading Ejiofor to label the incident as a national disgrace for Nigeria.

During an appearance on Arise Television, the former DSS Deputy Director raised concerns about the National Security Adviser’s decision to detain the suspect.

Ejiofor posed several questions surrounding the situation: “Does the NSA have appropriate facilities for suspect custody? How did the suspect have access to materials while in custody? How did he manage to leave for prayers? And most importantly, how did he escape without alerting the authorities?”

Referring to the likelihood of compromise rather than negligence, Ejiofor pointed out the suspicious circumstances surrounding Anjarwalla’s escape, emphasizing the need for accountability and answers to the unanswered questions.
