Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, the Governor of Benue State, has decided to reopen nursing schools in the state to improve medical and health standards.
The announcement was made by Governor Alia during a thanksgiving mass organized in his honor at St. Gabriel’s Parish, Iorkighir, Tse Agberagba, in Konshisha LGA of Benue.
The Governor revealed that these schools will be upgraded to offer degree programs and higher institutional education to enhance the acquisition of knowledge.
He emphasized the need to revamp and modernize community health organizations to provide better support to hospitals for swift medical services.
Furthermore, Governor Alia assured that the government would ensure these institutions are accessible and almost free for eligible citizens who wish to enroll in them.
He expressed concern over the lack of adequate health facilities in the state, attributing it to unnecessary deaths that could have been prevented.
The Governor also urged health donors worldwide to collaborate with the Benue State government in revitalizing the health sector.
In addition, he encouraged all individuals, particularly women engaged in small-scale businesses and farming, to either register with existing cooperatives or establish new ones to take advantage of the government’s available programs.
Governor Hyacinth Alia reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting science and technology.
He mentioned, “For the youth in the Jechira axis, we will enhance their exposure to current scientific trends through sponsorships for various training programs and practical experiences.”
The Governor, while pledging to address security challenges vigorously, appealed to all citizens to safeguard their communities by reporting any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
